  2. Sharon,
    You are brilliant! What a great idea to have fashionable "tweeners" clothing that is also modest! You are soooooo talented!

Welcome to Cupcakes!

My name is Sharon Larson, and I am the founder of “Cupcakes".

As my sister began her search for an eighth grade graduation dress for her daughter, she encountered quite a challenge! I soon became aware of the dilemma our young girls face as they search for clothes that allow them to express their own individuality, style, and values.

So many of the “moms-of-a-young-daughters” I talk to say it is nearly impossible to find clothes that are modest, cute, “in”, reasonably priced, AND well-made! If these moms can find a size for their daughter that more or less fits, it’s more often than not too revealing, too short, too tight, too suggestive, too sheer, …..and the list goes on. Perhaps you are in that category, as well?

My approach to design and construction is very specific. I am producing clothes that are:

* not see-through (any sheer layers will have an under-layer),
* modestly cut (slightly higher necklines and armholes, dress straps to cover undergarment straps, but no granny clothes here!)
* higher (hip) rise in pants,
*somewhat lower hemlines,
* well-made, and durable
* made of mostly natural fibers
* reasonably priced!

It is my goal to be a part of the solution regarding the predicament that so many of our young girls face as they try to buy ready-to-wear clothes. I want to provide them with authentic, tangible options: clothes that are cute and fun to wear, clothes that protect their innocence and body image, clothes that are sometimes trendy, sometimes classic, but always, always… clothes that are appropriate, reasonably priced, and well-made. Also, whenever possible, I plan to incorporate “growth” possibilities into the garment so that the life-expectancy of the garment is extended.
